Modular Data Acquisition Systems

The DATaRec 4 Series is available in two distinct physical configurations that provide an extremely versatile ability to cover multiple applications, from high channel count data acquisition in a laboratory through airborne avionics and sensor monitoring in severe environments. The DATaRec 4 is designed for use in benign and human compatible environments experienced in research, transport, laboratory test/evaluation and general industrial applications. The DATaRec 4R comprises the same electronics and facilities as the DATaRec 4, with added rugged features such as more robust housings and mounting capabilities, enhanced cooling and multi-pin connectors.

The DATaRec 4R is a scalable, modular system that provides a wide range of solutions for data acquisition and replay telemetry, in a ruggedized, airborne compatible form.

The modular system architecture allows this system to be scaled in speed, data capacity, and interface content to build a custom solution for every application. DATaRec 4R modules can be deployed as either a physically distributed module system or as a robust integrated unit. All modules can be configured in any combination or quantity.

When deployed in the distributed configuration, the system controller (or LINK module) easily connects to the interface modules via a single 'daisy chained' 10 GigE physical layer serial cable. This connection communicates using a proprietary technique to ensure precision time correlation for data acquired from all signal interface modules. Automatic compensation is provided for timing latencies caused by differing cable lengths between the distributed modules. Signal interface modules can be separated by up to 150 feet, allowing them to be located adjacent to sources and sensors, which improves signal fidelity and reduces cabling costs. This also facilitates fitting 'large capability' into 'small spaces'.

A variety of signal interfaces are available for custom configuration including analog, PCM, video, Ethernet, ARINC429, MIL-STD-1553 and asynchronous serial signals. From one to several hundreds of channels can be accommodated. Changing or extending a system configuration is a very simple operation.

The DATaRec 4R system is carefully designed to support accurate, time-coherent reconstruction of data in the ground analysis environment using DATaRec 4 or GSS/GSSr systems.

The DATaRec 4 System is a scalable, modular system that provides a wide range of solutions for data acquisition and replay in ground-based telemetry,transport, industrial, and research applications.

Modular architecture allows this system to be scaled in speed, data capacity, and interface content to build a custom solution for every application. The system can be as small as a single interface module or large enough to capture hundreds of channels, all systems using exactly the same configuration and interconnection strategy.

The system’s unique scalability simplifies installation and reduces interconnection costs by allowing for signal interface modules to be distributed and linked via a 'daisy chain', or locked together with built-in clamps to form a robust integrated unit.

Single modules can be directly connected to a laptop via a USB port, providing a portable, simple, accurate data acquisition solution.

Groups of modules can be linked to a master system controller ( LINK module) that manages the connection to external networks, drives recording media, and facilitates configuration, control, and status indication.

Signal interface modules can capture a wide variety of data from voltage, ICP, strain, charge coupled, video, PCM, avionics bus and other sources. All analog channels are galvanically isolated and deploy the latest techniques in digital sampling and filtering, providing high dynamic range and spurious-free recording.

Built-in automatic calibration, self checks, and status indication in each module ensure operator confidence in the system.
